Agapostemoides hurdi Roberts & Brooks, 1987: 365 . Holotype male, Panama: Colón, Pipeline Road (SEMC, not examined).

Comments and diagnosis

The characteristics mentioned in the key are valuable for the recognition of A. hurdi , especially the low occipital carina, not lamellate dorsally, and the sparse punctation on lateral portions of the disc of T1. Other features of this species are the clypeal punctures, separated by several times their diameters; the tegula transparent brown, often metallic anteromedially; fore leg with coxa metallic laterally, external surface of trochanter, femur and tibia dark amber; hindleg femur with a conspicuous posteroventral tooth.

Roberts & Brooks (1987) called attention to the female color morphs in A. hurdi . The female T2­T 4 may be either black or amber, in both cases also with yellow transverse bands.

Material examined

One male and one female from Panama ( DZUP): “ PANAMA: Darién, Cana\ Biological Station 5000­ 550 m \ 7°45'18''N, 77°41'6''W \ 04 jun 1996; J. Ashe,\ R.Brooks PAN1AB96 017\ ex: Clibadium surinamensis ”; the female with the identification label: “ Agapostemonoides \ hurdi \ Roberts & Brooks\ Det C. D. Michener”.
