Type material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂ ( USNM): ‘ Canal Zone \ Pan 2-10-39 \ C. J. Drake’ ‘ Mesovelia \ zeteki \ D & H\ Holotype’. Additional material examined: (2♂, 3♀ USNM): ‘ Panama, Canal Zone \ Rio Juan Grande at Km.2\ on Pipeline Road, 30 km.\ 5 January 1993 CL 2784\ J. Polhemus & A. Gillogly’.

Diagnosis. Male. Mesofemur ventrally without row of spinules; abdominal tergum VIII with posterior margin straight; abdominal pleuron VIII without anterodorsal tubercle ( Fig. 2 C); abdominal sternum VI with posteromedian projection acute, with fringe of black spinules ( Fig. 2 B); paramere with margins diverging and apex bifid ( Fig. 3 C).

Female (n=1): body length 2.95; head length 0.65; head width through eyes 0.60; head width through antenniferous tubercles 0.42; antennomere I 0.47; antennomere II 0.36; antennomere III 0.94; antennomere IV 0.91; FORE LEG, femoral length 0.68; tibial length 0.66; MID LEG, femoral length 0.94; tibial length 0.94; HIND LEG, femoral length 1.28; tibial length 1.57.
