Diagnosis. As for genus.
Remarks. According to Coelho & Coelho (1998: 800), some of the type material used by Rodrigues da Costa (1968) to describe Chasmocacinus peresi actually belonged to C. arcuatus Coelho & Coelho, 1998 .
The male specimen drawn by Rodrigues da Costa (1968: unnumb. pl., figs. 1‒4) is of an unknown specimen (no legend). The characters shown in the drawing, particularly the stout G1, are nevertheless characteristic of the species . No holotype was designated. De Melo et al. (2003: 431) designated several paralectotypes . A lectotype does exist at DOUFPE (M. Tavares, personal communication).
Rodrigues da Costa (1968: 335) described preserved specimens as having bright-red bands on the meri and carpi of the second to fifth ambulatory legs, the rest (of the legs?) being white (Les specimens, fixés dans l'alcool, présentent des bandes rouge vif sur le mérus et le carpus des pattes II-V, le reste blanc. ”).Traces of color were observed on the walking legs of some of the preserved specimens that were examined, particularly on the distal third of the meri of the second ambulatory legs of a female specimen.
Distribution. Brazil (Amapá to Bahia). Depth: 15–25 m ( Melo 1998).
