Etymology: The specific name is a noun in apposition, taken from the name of the indigenous friend of Robinson Crusoe in the novel of Daniel Defoe.

Diagnosis: It resembles other species of the ornata group by the modified male chelicerae and the epigyne with a smooth, heart shaped median field close to the epigastric furrow ( Figs 35e View FIGURE 35 , 33c, d View FIGURE 33 ). It can be distinguished by having few or no spines on tibiae I and II (up to two ventral spines).

Description: Female (paratype MHNS EMS-00151): Total length 8.38. Prosoma length 4.12, width 2.93, wider between legs II–III. Tibia/metatarsus length: I, 2.13/1.67; II, 2.00/1.53; III, 1.33/2.13; IV, 2.13/3.00. Chelicerae with three teeth (middle tooth larger) on promargin and four on retromargin (apical tooth smaller). Sternum length 1.93, width 1.53. Spines: leg I, femur d 1–1–1, p 2ap. II, femur d 1–1–1, p 1ap; metatarsus v 2bas. III, femur d 1–1–1, p d1ap or 0–d1–d1, r d1ap; patella r d1; tibia v p1–2–2, p and r d1–1; metatarsus v 2–p1–2 or 2–2–2, d 0–p1–2, p and r d1–1–1. IV, femur d 1–1–1, p and r d1ap; patella r d1; tibia v p1–2–2, p 1–1, r d1–1–1; metatarsus v 2–2–2, d 0–p1–2, p and r d1–1–1. Opisthosoma length 4.26, epigastrium–spiracle 2.40, spiracle– spinnerets 0.47. Color in ethanol: Prosoma and chelicerae reddish brown. Sternum brown. Legs yellowish brown. Opistosoma light yellowish brown, with dorsal and ventral brown pattern ( Figs 1f View FIGURE 1 , 28 View FIGURE 28 ). Epigyne small, very sclerotized and weakly translucent ( Fig. 33c, d View FIGURE 33 ). MF smooth, heart-shaped, close to the epigastric furrow. Anterior pouch wide, with lumen shorter than wide. AB placed anteriorly from the spermathecae, with long ducts. Spermathecae far apart ( Fig. 33d View FIGURE 33 ).

Male (holotype): Total length 7.45. Prosoma length 3.60, width 2.66. Length of tibia/metatarsus: I, 2.60/2.20;

MA long and flattened, with a few thin small branches ( Fig. 30h View FIGURE 30 ). PMA long and wide, triangular, pPMA not simple. Conductor large and complex, with vestigial canal, ending in longitudinally ridged peak, on rounded projection, directed backwards ( Fig. 30 View FIGURE 30 ).

All adults and immatures have a group of thick setae on the base of ALS ( Fig. 31b View FIGURE 31 ).

Variability: Spines in females: II, femur r 1ap; metatarsus v d1bas. III, tibia v p1–1–0; metatarsus r d1–0–1. IV, tibia, v p1–p1–0.
