Philisca accentifera Simon, 1904: 101 View in CoL (female and immature syntypes from Chile, Región IV Coquimbo, Coquimbo Prov., La Herradura, in MNHN 22413, examined).

Cluilius chilensis Mello-Leitão, 1951: 336 (male and female syntypes from Maullin , Chile, in MNRJ 242 View Materials , examined). New synonymy.

Synonymy: Mello-Leitão (1951) described Cluilius chilensis , which clearly belongs to the genus Philisca View in CoL , as evidenced by the male modified chelicerae and endites, and the female epigyne. Male and female syntypes were examined, and we did not find any clear differences compared to other specimens of P. accentifera View in CoL , including their types.

Diagnosis: It resembles other species of the ornata group by the modified male chelicerae and the epigyne with smooth, heart shaped median field close to the epigastric furrow ( Figs 35a View FIGURE 35 , 14b, c View FIGURE 14 ), and is very similar to P. atrata by having the AME larger than the ALE. It can be distinguished from the latter species by the paler dorsal abdominal pattern, with brown chevrons on a whitish background ( Figs 14a View FIGURE 14 , 15 View FIGURE 15 ). The male palpal bulb has a wide, triangular PMA ( Fig. 16b–e View FIGURE 16 ), and the female epigyne has the anterior pouch of the median field with short, squared lumen, about as long as wide ( Fig. 14b View FIGURE 14 ).
