Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 , 34d View FIGURE 34 , 38d View FIGURE 38

Liparotoma hyadesi Simon, 1884: 138 (female holotype from Cabo de Hornos, in MHNP, not reexamined). Ramírez, 1993: 201.

Philisca hyadesi: Ramírez, 2003: 186 View in CoL .

Diagnosis: Resembles P. doilu by the low cephalic area ( Ramírez 1993: fig. 22), the transversely wrinkled median field of the epigyne advanced from the epigastric furrow ( Fig. 5b View FIGURE 5 ), and the elongate paramedian apophysis ( Fig. 5d, e View FIGURE 5 ). It can be distinguished by the wider sternum (width more than 65% of the sternum length).

Description: Male and female described in Ramírez (1993, 2003).

Distribution: Southern forests in Chile, from Cautín prov., and Argentina, from Neuquén to Cabo de Hornos ( Fig. 38d View FIGURE 38 ). In Chile, two isolated records from Valparaíso (Quintay; Ramírez, 2003) and Petorca (Cuesta El Melón; Ramírez, 1993) might indicate an interesting relict, or a mislabelling ( Ramirez 2003).

New records: CHILE: Región X (Los Lagos): Valdivia Prov.: La Estancilla , fogging, 62m, 25ºC, S39º50.397’ W73º18.949’, Nothofagus dombeyi 45m, 1:53PM 15.I.2007, Arias et al. Berkeley, 1 female ( CASENT 9039140 ) GoogleMaps , 2 females and 1 immature ( CASENT 9039125 ) GoogleMaps . Región XIV (de los Ríos): Valdivia Prov.: Reserva Costera Valdiviana , 15.03 km WSW Corral, S39º59.638’ W73º35.113’, elev. ca. 335m, general collecting in native forest dominated by Nothofagus , 26.II.2008, H. Wood, C. Griswold CL–011, 1 female ( CASENT 9030009 ) GoogleMaps .

Material re-examined: ARGENTINA: Neuquén: Puerto Blest, Laguna los Cantaros , 7–20.I.2000, L. Lopardo, A. Quaglino, 4 females ( MACN-Ar 14807 ) ; P.N. Nahuel Huapi, Lago Espejo , 21.I.1985, M.
