Lectotype ( Fig. 2C ): BRAZIL, Bahia: G. Bondar leg., MZFS#32400 ( Fig. 2F, H ).

Paralectotypes ( Fig. 2 D–E): 5 specimens, BRAZIL, Bahia: G. Bondar leg., MZFS#32400 ( Fig. 2 G–H) .

Comments: according to Bondar (1940) ( Fig. 2 A–B), the type of Bitoma palmarum was at the author’s collection and the paratypes were deposited at the Imperial Institute of Entomology in London and Instituto de Experimentação Agrícola do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil ( Fig. 2B ). There is no mention to other paratypes. The specimens with cotype label are mounted with labels in one insect pin. Bondar probably donated these specimens to Embrapa— CNPMF collection which now is at MZFS. Bondar’s collection was donated to EMBRAPA and posteriorly donated to MZFS. Probably, the material mentioned by the Bondar (1940) ( Fig. 2 A–B) in the original species description, the specimens designated as typus and paratypus correspond to the specimens designated as cotypus. Based in all this informations and according in the Article 74 (International Code of Zoological Nomenclature—ICZN, 2019), we designated the lectotype ( Fig. 2C ) and paralectotypes ( Fig. 2 D–E) with the cotypus serie.
