Distribution. Native. Neotropical; Galápagos: Daphne Major, Fernandina (CDRS) , Genovesa, Rábida, Santa Cruz , Santiago, Wolf.
Remarks. This species commonly occurs as parasites on marine fish-eating birds ( Bequaert 1957; Whiteman et al. 2006). In the Galápagos, adults have been found on flightless cormorants and pelicans ( Harmon et al. 1984 –85; Whiteman et al. 2006).
