This genus can be distinguished from the other genera of the Megalurothrips View in CoL genus-group by the following set of characters ( Mirab-balou & Chen 2011). Tarsi 2-segmented; fore tibiae and fore tarsus with or without tubercles or claw like processes at apex ( Xie et al. 2010); the base of antennal segment VI greatly elongated; head with 3 pairs of ocellar setae, pair III longer than other head setae; postocular arranged in one row; pronotum with 2 pairs of similarly long posteroangular setae; ferna entire; mesothoracic sternopleural sutures present; metanotal median pair of setae situated at the anterior margin; spinula present on mesosternum but absent on metasternum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ); setae on first vein of fore wing interrupted subapically, with 2–4 distal setae, second vein with complete row of setae; tergite VIII with posteromarginal comb but absent in middle; abdominal tergites and laterotergites without accessory setae; sternite VII with S1 setae ahead of posterior margin; tergite X of female with incomplete longitudinal split; male abdominal sternites without pore areas, tergite IX of male with or without pair of processes and if present, these are either short, stout, thorn-like or sometimes sigmoid shaped; endotheca of phallus with or without endothecal spines supported by canaliculi ( Pitkin 1972).
