Current name: Echium orientale L. View in CoL ( Boraginaceae ).

Note: Tournefort’s description was discussed in some detail by Burtt (in Karaca Arbor. Mag. 6: 138-139. 2002) who also (l.c. 6: 60, f. 13. 2001) reproduced an illustration of the subsequently designated lectotype.
