Broun number: 3073.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, “3073” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Waimarino \ Jany 1909” [in Broun’s hand], “ Mesocyphon \ tristis ” [in Broun’s hand].

Remarks. There is no information on the number of specimens examined in the original description; Broun noted that the species is “rather rare” (Broun 1910).
