Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype ( NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus debilis \ Type D. S. \ Tairua, Broun” [written at base of card in Sharp’s hand], “Tairua, [red underline] \ New Zealand. \ Broun.”, “Sharp Coll \ 1906-313.”, “ Type \ H. T.” [round label with red margin].

Remarks. This species was sent to Sharp from Tairua by Broun.
