Description of the final instar larva of Rhyacophila tsurakiana Malicky 1984b View in CoL

Biometry. Body length 17.2 mm, head width 0.99 mm (n = 1). All morphological characters identical to those of R. gudrunae except as noted below.

Head. Head capsule orange, with brown muscle attachment spots ( Figs 13–14 View FIGURES 11–15 , 16 View FIGURES 16–20 ). Anterior margin of frontoclypeus and adjacent areas of parietalia black ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11–15 ).

Thorax. Pronotal sclerites orange, with muscle attachment patterns and coloration less contrasting and less obvious than in R. gudrunae . Only posterior margins thickened and darkly striped, lateral borders orange and crenulated, anterolateral pronotal notch orange, not dark. Anterior borders of pronotal sclerites with dense fringe of very short, curved, fine, yellow setae ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 11–15 ). Prosternum inconspicuous. Pleura of meso- and metathoraces without gills ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 16–20 ).

Abdomen. Abdominal segments without gills. Posterior border of abdominal dorsum IX trapezoidal ( Figs 17 View FIGURES 16–20 , 34 View FIGURES 33–34 ). Anal prolegs without sword processes and without ventral basal hooks; anal claws without ventral teeth ( Figs 18, 19 View FIGURES 16–20 ).
