Lectotype (Jafri in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W Pakistan 55: 29. 1973): Herb. Linn. No. 845.4 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Sinapis Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 172. 1929).

Current name: Sinapis alba L. View in CoL ( Brassicaceae ).

Note: Baillargeon (in Taxon 37: 969. 1988), believing S. nigra L. to be the generitype, proposed Sinapis for conservation with S. alba as its conserved type. However, the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 42: 688. 1993) declined to support the proposal, ruling it unnecessary.
