Kaindipsocus splendidus Lienhard View in CoL

Kaindipsocus splendidus Lienhard, 2008: 501 View in CoL .

Kaindipsocus View in CoL sp. Yoshizawa & Johnson, 2008: 550

Material examined: INDONESIA, Sumatra, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Liwa, coffee, 840m, 2 females, 27.VI.1997, ESK.

Remarks. These two females are clearly referable to the recently-described K. splendidus Lienhard from Vietnam, corresponding closely in the intricate fore wing pattern and all details of genitalic structure. This notable range extension constitutes the first record of the genus in Indonesia, and the species is very distinctive.

Kaindipsocus View in CoL was placed earlier in the subfamily Psocinae View in CoL , but differs from all described genera on features of the thorax and wing venation. Following suggestion of its relationship to the Amphigerontiinae View in CoL (Mockford, in Lienhard & Smithers 2002), molecular studies confirmed this likelihood ( Yoshizawa & Johnson 2008). Additional morphological study by Lienhard (2008) endorsed this further, and the genus is treated here as constituting the sole member of the tribe Kaindipsocini, following these authors.
