This mite species was previously found on Calamagrostis sp. in Kazakhstan only. In Ukraine S. malkovskii was recorded by I. Akimov on Bolboschoenus sp. in the river basin of Luhansk region (personal communication). In BSBR, S. malkovskii specimens are recorded in all the investigated areas. In each of them this species is found on a different host belonging to the family Asteraceae .
