The two species of the L. pallida- group recorded from the Galapagos are characterized by lecanorine apothecia with white to pale brown, strongly pruinose discs and thick thalline exciples filled by small crystals soluble in K. Their thallus is continuous to rimose or rimose-areolate, with a white to pale creamy ivory-white (occasionally pinkish) surface. They typically produce β -orcinol depsidones (e.g., norstictic, protocetraric, psoromic, salazinic, stictic, and virensic acids) in addition to atranorin .
