EMENDED DIAGNOSIS. — Bunodont litopterns with two lower incisors, the distal (lateral) being significantly larger (tusk-like) than the mesial (central). Metaconid absent on p2. Metaconule of P4 isolated. Mesostyle absent on P3-4 but present on M1-3. Strong paracone and metacone folds on upper molars. M3 with well-developed hypocone. Megadolodinae is supported by the following synapomorphies: bunodont cheek teeth; small parastyle on P3-4; and m1-3 without paralophid.
