Brachypi J. L. LeConte, 1876: 180 [stem: Brachypod-]. Type genus: Brachypus Schönherr, 1826 [preoccupied genus name, not Brachypus Meyer, 1814 [Aves]; syn. of Brachygyius G. A. K. Marshall, 1939]. Comment: permanently invalid (Art. 39): based on preoccupied type genus; incorrect original stem formation, not in prevailing usage.
