The distribution of this conspicuous and apparently very rare species is confined to Morocco and the extreme southeast of Spain, from where only old records had been known (ASSING 1997b, 1999b). No ecological data were previously available. The above specimens were all collected in pastures from under stones, suggesting that O. paralleliceps is not a forest species, but inhabits open biotopes.
