Haemopis sanguisuga (Linnaeus, 1758)
Habitats and status: Haemopis sanguisuga has been found in small and medium sized running waters, small shallow ponds and pools, and often on wet soil next to these water bodies. Preference for habitats in higher elevations in Central Europe was reported by Košel (1982). Although infrequently collected in the Czech Republic, the current distribution of this species likely has been under-estimated due to its semi-aquatic life style and insufficient survey effort in its preferred habitats.
