Pseudolycoriella planiforceps ( Steffan, 1971) View in CoL
( Fig. 8 A – D View FIGURE 8 ; Plate IV, Fig. VIII)
Eugnoriste planiforceps Steffan, 1971 View in CoL [ Steffan (1971): 54, fig. 1 a–l].
Selected literature: Mohrig et al. (2013): 229–230, fig. 47 a–f.
Comments. The species shows characters that are typical for the genus Pseudolycoriella like the shape of the tegmen, a semicircular-bordered tibial organ on the apex of the fore tibia and flagellomeres with large cuticular pits at the bases of bristles. The species is unique since it does not have a whiplash hair and typical apical spines on the gonostylus. Instead the gonostylus is wide and spoon-like in shape, having many fine spines in between short spine-like bristles along the inner side. The shape of the gonostylus is similar to Psl. nocturna .
Distribution. USA (Arizona, Texas). Also known from Ecuador (Galapagos Islands) and Mexico (Baja California).
