( Fig. 6 A – B View FIGURE 6 )
Locus typicus: Canada, Alberta, Munn Creek , 53.30°N, 118.10°W GoogleMaps .
Holotype: Male, 11.vi.–24.vii.1994, spruce forest, Malaise trap, leg. E. Fuller, ( PWMP).
Description. Male. Head: Round; eye bridge 4–5 facets wide. Antenna brown; 2 nd flagellomere with a l/w index of 2.0, hairs pale, as long as the diameter, no deepened sensorial pits. Palpi 3-segmented, long, brown; first segment with 5–6 bristles and a flat patch of sensillae. Mouth parts rather short. Thorax: Dark brown, scutum long and densely haired. Scutellum with 4 stronger bristles. Postpronotum bare; mediotergite with a few bristles. Wing brownish; R 1 = 2/3 R; c = 1/2 w; y longer than x, x bare and y with 3–4 macrotrichia; M-fork shorter than M-stem, rather wide; CuA-stem longer than x; posterior veins distinct and without macrotrichia. Haltere brown and rather long. Legs brown; tibial organ indistinct with a few short bristles, nearly comb-like, not bordered. Claws toothless. Abdomen: Ventral base of hypopygium without lobe, inner margin of gonocoxites with rather strong but not dense hairs. Gonostylus in profile (ventro-lateral aspect) rather narrow, apex densely haired, inner side broad and somewhat spoon-like; subapically with a few (3–4) fine, hyaline spines within the hairs and a long whiplash hair, inserted subapically. Body length: 4.0 mm.
Comments. The species is characterized by having a uniformly dark brown body colour, macrotrichia on the apical part of y, a gonostylus that is broad on the inner side (spoon-like), a few bristles on the mediotergite (unusual for Pseudolycoriella ), toothless claws and a weak, somewhat comb-like tibial organ on the apex of the fore tibia. It resembles Psl. planiforceps (Steffan) , but differs by having a darker body colour, a long whiplash hair and a weakly structured tibial organ.
Distribution. Canada (Alberta).
