Cernotina flexuosa sp. nov.

Figs. 17–20 View FIGURES 17 – 20

Description. Male. Length of each forewing 2.6–2.9 mm. General color, in alcohol, pale brown; head and thorax with golden setae, antennae light yellow, legs pale brown with dark brown setae, wings pale brown with brown setae. Male genitalia. Sternum IX short, with deep incision U-shaped in anterior margin ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 17 – 20 ). Tergum X membranous, divided mesally in 2 lobes covered by long setae ( Figs. 17, 18 View FIGURES 17 – 20 ). Preanal appendages with dorsolateral lobes short, broad and oblong, with long setae ( Figs. 17, 18 View FIGURES 17 – 20 ); and with ventromesal lobes simple, bent, and apices narrowed, gradually darkened, and curved laterad ( Figs. 17, 18 View FIGURES 17 – 20 ). Inferior appendages elongate, apically dark, each with internal apical face straight; its basodorsal lobe reaching apex of main body of appendage, strongly sclerotized, depressed, bearing four spine-like setae on internal surface, apically truncate with short apicomesal projection ( Figs. 17, 19 View FIGURES 17 – 20 ). Phallus tubular, short, with apicodorsal area depressed; internally with 2 long dark spines posteriorly, and phallicata sclerite with ventral semicircular piece and pair of oval plates dorsally ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 17 – 20 ).

Remarks. This new species is very similar to Cernotina filiformis Flint, 1971 , particularly in the shapes of the ventromesal lobes of the preanal appendages and tergum X. Cernotina flexuosa sp. nov. can be distinguished from C. filiformis by the free, strongly sclerotized, and apically truncate basodorsal lobe of each inferior appendage; and by the phallus bearing 2 long straight spines.
