Type locality. Onchidium marmoratum : ‘Nelle Irlande’ [i.e., New Ireland, Papua New Guinea] according to the label, and ‘ port Praslin , à la Nouvelle Irlande’ [i.e., New Ireland, Papua New Guinea] according to Lesson’s (1831: 297) written original description. Port Praslin is now called Gower’s Harbour and is located near the village of Lambon, at the southernmost end of New Ireland Island .
