Notes. This is the species identified in Greathead (2000a) as Petrorossia sp. ? letho (Wiedemann) with all pale vestiture on the head and P. tropicalis ­like male genitalia. I note that Hesse (1956) indicates that the colour of the hair on the frons of southern African specimens of P. tropicalis can be entirely pale in colour. If this variability is accepted then the present specimens are P. tropicalis and not P. letho which in known from the Sahelian region and arid areas in the southern parts of Palaearctic Region.
