Conomyza sp. ? semirufella Hesse

Material examined. 1♀, Rundu District , Mile 46, 18°18’39”S 19°15’29”, 25–27.iii.2003, A.H. KirkSpriggs, Malaise trap .

Notes. Differs from the description in body being more extensively black, notably; facial cone, excepting oral margin; hind femora; hair on frons and most thoracic bristles. Also flagellum longer and more slender than figure of male. However, Hesse (1956) commented: this species is no doubt variable in colour and the colour of the vestiture and he described a var. karooana from males only which differ from the nominate form in the body and bristles being more extensively black much as the present specimen. Therefore, the present specimen is tentatively identified as C. semirufella but males are needed to confirm.
