Remarks.

Stenus picipennis is widely distributed in Europe and the Mediterranean, but unknown from Turkey, the Levant, and Caucasia. In view of this distribution pattern the record for Iran in the current edition of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera far east of the area of distribution of Stenus picipennis appears doubtful. The underlying reference for this country record, which was not yet cited in the first edition of the catalogue ( Smetana 2004: 552), is unknown to us.
