A subspeciebus aliis rachide breviore et rhachillis crassis differt.
Type: PANAMA. Panama: Cerro Jefe, ca. 1000 m, 25 August 1975, S. Mori & L. Joly 7933 (holotype MO!).
Leaves rachis 15.0(9.6–22.5) cm long; apical pinna 15.0(11.4–18.5) cm long. Inflorescences rachillae 1.4(1.1– 1.7) mm in diameter.
Distribution and habitat:— From 9°10’– 9°28’N and 79°16’– 79°33’W in Panama on mountains east of the Canal Zone (Cerro Azul, Cerro Brewster, Cerro Bruja, Cerro Jefe) at 895(800–1000) m elevation in lowland rainforest ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ).
Subspecific variation:— Most specimens from Cerro Jefe have pinnate leaves.
