Distribution: W Utah, Nevada, E California, and NW Arizona ( USA), and E coast of Baja California to Bahía Concepcion (Baja California Sur, Mexico).

Discussion: Reviewed by Huey (1964). Included in Perognathus by Hall (1981:542) and earlier workers, but allocated to Chaetodipus by Patton et al. (1981) and Hafner and Hafner (1983). Subspecies reviewed by Williams et al. (1993).
