In 1891 Oshanin published a paper on zoogeography of Hemiptera View in CoL of Turkestan. In this paper he mentioned a new generic name Balanda Oshanin, 1891: 66 View in CoL with a new type species, Balanda alpicola Oshanin, 1891 , from the family Pentatomidae (Heteroptera) View in CoL . Both generic and species names are nomina nuda (ICZN, 1999: Art. 12.1) and not available. Thus, the principle of homonymy (ICZN, 1999: Art. 53.2) does not apply, and the name proposed by Dworakowska (1979) remains valid.
