Subgenus Parasymplecthyma subgen. nov.
Description. Distinguished from all other subgenera by shape of aedeagus, its flagellum and by the combination of yellow labrum, legs, four basal antennomeres, and the black elytra. Elytra with basal humps and an arcuate indentation, yellow brownish maculation consists of humeral and lateromedial dots and apical lunule. Aedeagus strongly and cylindrically inflated, tapering in apical quarter, tip short-extended, dorsally curved, thickened and knob-like; inner sac half-filled by a flagellum in six helical coils; enclosing a sustaining membrane.
Type species. Prothyma (Parasymplecthyma) johnsoni sp. nov.
Etymology. The Greek prefix “para-” (“near, at”) meaning near Symplecthyma .
