Type locality: Turkey: Ankara, Beypazarı. Holotype: male ( NHM).

Previous records: Cejchan 1965: TUERKEY: Ankara, Beypazari , 1930, 1 ♂, 1 ♀, leg. Sureya (paratypes) (coll. A. Cejchan) (not examined) .

Material examined: 53 specimens. TURKEY: Angora [Ankara], Beypazarı , 1930 , 22 ♂, 26 ♀, leg. Sureya (holo- and paratypes) ( NHM) ; 2 ♂, 1 ♀ (paratypes) ( ZMB) ; 1 ♂, 1 ♀ (paratypes) ( AIBUEM) .

Diagnosis: Pronotum ( Figs. 11a–d) with distinct tubercles; prozona high with distinct lobes; lateral projections of mesozona very distinct, sharp and triangular; metazona short and flat, hind margin angular in male, slightly rounded in female; male tegmina ( Figs. 11a, c, e) very short, reaching to end of first abdominal tergite or just beyond it, its widest point in apical 1/4; male hind wing strongly reduced; dorsal margin of mesotibia without any tubercles fully smooth; distal excision of dorsal carina of hind femur distinct, its ventral carina clearly wavy; inner side of hind femur red, darkened with dark blue macula; inner side of hind tibia light red, pinkish-red; male penis valves ( Figs. 11g, h) stout apically, their apices strongly curved upwards in lateral view, widened in posterior view; lophi ( Figs. 11i) with more than 20 dense spines, posterior margin of epiphallus ( Figs. 11i) with a distinct narrow, slightly rounded projection.

This species is near to typical forms of G. escherichi escherichi by the small body size and general appearance. It differs from it in the sharpened lateral projections of mesozona, rounded hind margin of metazona, shorter and shape of male tegmina, reduced male hind wing, mesotibia without dorsal tubercles, shape of female tegmina, lighter coloration of hind tibia. It is also near to G. adaliae as suggested by the rounded hind margin of metazona, the color of hind tibia and the male tegmina widened towards the apex. It differs from it in the higher prozona, very sharp lateral projections of mesozona, shape of male tegmina, strongly reduced male hind wing, mesotibia without dorsal tubercles, shape of female tegmina. This species is easily recognized by the mesotibia with smooth dorsal margin, strongly reduced male wing, shape of tegmina in both sexes.

Distribution: ( Fig. 15) Turkey: Ankara: Beypazarı.

Remarks: The record given from Beypazarı as Tmethis escherichi ( Uvarov, 1930) is belong to this species. Uvarov (1934) described this species after a number of specimens collected from Beypazarı. Uvarov (1934: 109, 111) separated it from all others by the smooth (without tubercles) dorsal margin of mesotibia in the male and the shape of male tegmina. The females also have the mesotibia with smooth dorsal margin. On the other hand, it is like some females of the other taxa with smooth mesotibia. This character is applies only to males. Therefore, females provide unreliable identifications. The G. ovipennis records given from Amasya and Çorum must be confirmed ( Önder et al. 1999) (see Glyphotmethis spp. herein).

Although many specimens of G. escherichi elatior have been collected, G. ovipennis has not been found from the type locality, Beypazarı.
