Dactylopterus volitans (Linnaeus, 1758) —Flying gurnard

We consider this a doubtful record. The British Museum of Natural History has a specimen of Dactylopterus volitans (BMNH 1993.3.31.22) from “Ilha da Madeira, RJ, Brazil ”, i.e. from the western Atlantic, which may have lead to confusion with Madeira Island in the eastern Atlantic.
