Recorded from Madeira by Maul (1949: 156) as Trigla cuculus Linnaeus, 1758 and by Richards & Saksena in Quéro et al. (1990: 680).

* Chelidonichthys lastoviza (Bonnaterre, 1788) —Streaked gurnard

Recorded from Madeira by Maul (1949: 156) as Trigla lastoviza Brünnich [sic] and by Hureau in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1237-1238) under the name Trigloporus lastoviza .

* Chelidonichthys lucernus (Linnaeus, 1758) —Tub gurnard

Not recorded from Madeira by Hureau in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1235-1236, Trigla lucerna ); new record for Madeira based on MMF 25400.

Recorded from Madeira by Hureau in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1232) under the name Aspitrigla obscura .
