7. Pombalia brevis (Dowell) Paula-Souza View in CoL , comb.nov. ≡ Calceolaria brevis Dowell (1906: 552) .—Type: GUATEMALA. Santa Rosa: Volcán Jumaytepeque, September 1892, Heyde & Lux 3943 (lectotypes US 1383095! US 246532! [firststep, designated by Morton 1971]; lectotype US 246532! [second-step, designated here by Paula-Souza]; isolectotype US 1383095!).

Dowell (1906) indicated two syntypes for Calceolaria brevis , further mentioning that the specimens were deposited in the Gray Herbarium, the U.S. National Herbarium and the Columbia Herbarium in the New York Botanical Garden. Morton later indicated the type of C. brevis as Heyde & Lux 3943 at US. The 2 specimens of this collection at the National Herbarium require the second-step lectotypification performed here .
