5. Pombalia bigibbosa View in CoL ( A.St.-Hil.) Paula-Souza, comb. nov. ≡ Ionidium bigibbosum A.St. -Hil. ( Saint-Hilaire 1824a: 254).—Type: BRAZIL. São Paulo: “Bois vergin pr. la ville de S. Carlos dans la Provincie de S. Paul”, October [1819] Saint-Hilaire C 1-1074 (lectotype P 00594926!, designated here by Paula-Souza; isolectotypes MPU 010793! P 00594927! P 00594928!).

5 Saint-Hilaire did not mention any collections for his new species published in “ Indication abrégée des plantes de la Flore du Brésil méridional… ”( Saint-Hilaire 1824a), only the binomials accompanied by very short descriptions were presented in that publication. All types along with very detailed descriptions and some illustrations were presented in following works, mostly at the “ Tableau monographique… ” (Saint-Hilaire 1825, this same content being published again in Saint-Hilaire 1825[1826]), but also at the “ Plantes Usuelles des Brasiliens ” ( Saint-Hilaire 1824b). By consequence, the term “ syntype ” in the present paper is used not exactly in the sense defined in the International Code of Nomenclature, but in a wider sense, that extends the protologue to include the subsequently published relevant data.

The collection year of Saint-Hilaire’s number C 1-1074 was inferred from Urban (1906: 96).
