Basionym. Cryptothecia napoensis Kalb & Jonitz View in CoL , in Kalb et al. (2012: 40).
The genus Myriostigma Kremp. View in CoL has recently been reinstated for the Cryptothecia candida View in CoL group characterised by raised maculate, ascomata-like fertile thalli, 8-spored, thick-walled, globular and stalked asci, and hyaline, bean-shaped, muriform ascospores ( Frisch et al. 2014). The characteristics of Cryptothecia napoensis View in CoL fits the circumscription of Myriostigma View in CoL ( Kalb et al. 2012; Frisch et al. 2014), therefore the new combination is proposed here.
So far M. napoensis has been known from the type locality in Ecuador ( Kalb et al. 2012).
