Material examined. India: 1 ♂, Calcutta [Kolkata], 26.10. [18]89, leg. J. Wood-Mason (NZCZSI, 7431/H10) ; 1 ♂, Calcutta [Kolkata], leg. N. Annandale (NZCZSI, 7432/H10) ; 1 ♂, Calc. [Kolkata], 712/8, 31.1.[18]88, male found copulating with below female (NZCZSI, 7433/H10) ; 1 ♀, Calc. [Kolkata], 713/8, 31.1.[18]88, female found copulating with above male (NZCZSI, 7434/H10) ; 1 ♂, Calc. , [Kolkata], 21.1.[18]88, fed on Buckool tree, with rich green leaves, Bombycid moth reared from caterpillar (NZCZSI, 7435/H10) ; 1 ♂, Peradeniya , Ceylon [ Sri Lanka], [?].10.1910, Green Collection (NZCZSI, 7436/H10) .

Remark: Valva of the specimen from Sri Lanka is slightly broader than that of Indian population. Female genitalia of T. varians are illustrated for the first time.
