Type species: Itara sericea Walker View in CoL , by original monotypy
Diagnosis ( Gorochov, 1997). According to Gorochov, subgenus Itara is more similar to Phormincter and Gryllitara but following variations are observed in the male genitalia, especially in epiphallus with three distal processes, middle one undivided, but longer than lateral processes and a pair of medium sized lateral processes; apical part of ectoparameres are C-shaped or sometimes slightly differently shaped. At present this subgenus includes 15 species world-wide ( Cigliano et al., 2021).
