Material examined

Holotype. Female Phillipines “ Ischnobracon bakeri Baltazar ′63”, “ Iligan Mindanao Baker Type No. 67562 USNM ” ( USNM).

Paratype. Female Philippines, Island of Basilan, coll. Baker ( USNM) .

Morphology

Length of body 11.7–13.2 mm, of fore wing 10.5–12.0 mm and of ovipositor (part exserted beyond apex of metasoma) 5.0– 6.7 mm (all larger dimensions of holotype). Antenna with 99 flagellomeres. Raised median area of first tergite not conspicuously depressed medially. Fore wing vein cu-a virtually interstitial. Second submarginal cell rather wide, vein 2-M 2.7 times longer than 2-SR. Hind wing sub-basal cell largely setose, narrowly glabrous posteriorly. Ovipositor approximately 0.5 times length of fore wing.

Colouration

Antenna almost entirely brown yellow, only the scapus partially darker. Body and legs entirely yellow except stemmaticum, and surrounding part of frons and vertex which is brown-black, the mark not reaching the border of the eyes. Basal half of fore wing yellow, remainder, including pterostigma almost entirely brown. Basal 0.6 of hind wing yellow, apex brown.

Notes

In her key to the species of Ischnobracon of the Philippines, Baltazar (1963) considers a short mediobasal lozenge-shaped area on the second metasomal tergite, ending before the middle of the tergite, to be diagnostic of this species. However, although this is the case in the holotype, the paratype female examined does not share this feature and in general, the length of the mediobasal area appears quite variable within several species of the genus.
