Type Locality: Papua New Guinea, Angabunga Range, Owgarra, 6,000 ft (= 1829 m).

Vernacular Names: Silky Cuscus.

Subspecies: :

Subspecies Phalanger sericeus subsp. sericeus Thomas 1907

Subspecies Phalanger sericeus subsp. occidentalis Menzies and Pernetta 1986

Distribution: C and E New Guinea, higher elevations, above 1500 m.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Common.

Discussion: Called P. vestitus by most authors, but see Menzies and Pernetta (1986:594).
