TYPE LOCALITY: China, Yunnan, Hotha .
DISTRIBUTION: N. W. India to Fukien, Chekiang, Anhwei ( China) (SW), Indochina, and peninsular Malaysia.
COMMENT: Misonne, 1969, Ann. Mus . R. Afr. Cent. Tervuren, ser. 8, Sei. Zool., 172:143, considered this species to be related to species in Berylmys . Marshall, 1977, in Lekagul and McNeely, p. 405, included it in subgenus Berylmys of Rattus , and Musser, 1981, Zool. Verhandelingen, 189:30, included it in genus Berylmys ; see comment under genus.
ISIS NUMBER: 5301410011058018001 as R. bowersi .
