STEGANA (STEGANINA) ALIANYA View in CoL ZHANG & CHEN
( FIGS 4A, B View Figure 4 , 5 View Figure 5 )
Zoobank registration: u r n: l s i d: z o o b a n k. org:act: D4C1DA35-F9E7-4689-B6CD-FEC34B144A97
Holotype: ♂ ( SCAU, No. 124703), China: Wangtianshu Forest Park, Mengla , Yunnan, 21.615°N, 101.593°E, 660 m a.s.l. (above sea level), 9.v.2012, tree trunks, H.W. Chen. GoogleMaps
Paratype: China: 1♀ ( SCAU, No. 124704), same data as holotype GoogleMaps .
Etymology: The name alianya mean ‘sky tree’ in the language of the Dai People, referring to the tall rainforest trees that seem to touch the sky in the type locality of this species. It is a noun in apposition.
Diagnosis: This species resembles S. jianfenglingensis Chen et al., 2009 in male terminalia ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ), but can be distinguished from the latter by aedeagus slightly broadened in ventral view, ventrally with a few finely serrated processes ( Fig. 5C, D View Figure 5 ), and gonopods apically slightly protruded in ventral view ( Fig. 5E View Figure 5 ). In S. jianfenglingensis : gonopods are apically pointed and the opening of aedeagus quadrate in ventral view, distally with numerous finely serrated processes (as figs 18, 19 in Chen et al., 2009).
Measurements: Body length (BL) = 3.13 mm in holotype (3.33 in paratype), thorax length (ThL) = 1.50 mm (1.70), wing length (WL) = 2.83 mm (3.27), wing width (WW) = 1.27 mm (1.40), dorsal branches/ventral branches of arista (arb) = 10/5 (8/5), longest ventral branch/longest dorsal branch of arista in length (avd) = 0.93 (0.85), longest dorsal branch of arista/width of first flagellomere (adf) = 2.00 (1.63), length/width of first flagellomere (flw) = 2.14 (2.13), frontal width/head width (FW/ HW) = 0.46 (0.46), maximum width of gena/maximum diameter of eye (ch/o) = 0.19 (0.18), proclinate orbital/ posterior reclinate orbital in length (prorb) = 1.06 (1.05), anterior reclinate orbital/posterior reclinate orbital in length (rcorb) = 0.74 (0.79), subvibrissal/vibrissa in length (vb) = 0.47 (0.47), anterior dorsocentral/posterior dorsocentral in length (dcl) = 0.52 (0.52), prescutellar/ posterior dorsocentral in length (presctl) = 0.61 (0.55), basal scutellar/apical scutellar in length (sct1) = 1.52 (in ♂ not counted due to damage), anterior katepisternal/ posterior katepisternal in length (sterno) = 0.91 (0.95), distance between proclinate and posterior reclinate orbitals/distance between inner vertical and posterior reclinate orbital (orbito) = 2.20 (1.83), distance between ipsilateral dorsocentrals/cross distance between anterior dorsocentrals (dcp) = 0.25 (0.24), distance between ipsilateral scutellars/cross distance between apical scutellars (sct1p) = 1.67 (1.53), second costal section between subcostal break and R 2 + 3 /third costal section between R 2 + 3 and R 4 + 5 (C) = 2.00 (2.13), third costal section between R 2 + 3 and R 4 + 5 /M 1 between r-m and dm-cu (4c) = 1.11 (1.15), M 1 between dm-cu and wing margin/M 1 between r-m and dm-cu (4v) = 1.84 (1.90), CuA 1 between dm-cu and wing margin / dm-cu between M 1 and CuA 1 (5×) = 1.57 (1.38), third costal section between R 2 + 3 and R 4 + 5 / distance between distal ends of R 4 + 5 and M 1 (ac) = 10.50 (11.50), CuA 1 between dm-cu and wing margin/ M 1 between r-m and dm-cu (M) = 0.58 (0.55), length of the strongly setose portion of the third costal section/length of whole third costal section (C3F) = 0.71 (0.61).
Description
Male and female. Head: Frons brown, with a black band below. First flagellomere black basally, yellow distally. Clypeus black medially, yellow laterally. Palpus yellow, slightly grayish apically. Thorax ( Fig. 4A View Figure 4 , B): Mesoscutum brown (male) to dark brown (female), medially and laterally with yellow longitudinal strips. Scutellum brown (male) to dark brown (female).
Male terminalia ( Fig. 5 View Figure 5 ): Epandrium ventrally slightly protruded. Cercus lacking pubescence. Surstylus submedially with ca. six prensisetae. Paramere lacking sensilla. Aedeagus with apically forked setae on opening. Gonopods dorsomedially with small glabrous projection.
