Etymology. The specific epithet is a patronym in honor of Cristián Grismado, who has greatly contributed to the taxonomy and systematics of spiders.

Diagnosis. Males of Fernandezina grismadoi sp. nov. resemble those of F. eduardoi Cala-Riquelme, Quijano-Cuervo & Sabogal-Gonzáles, 2018 and F. ilheus Platnick, Grismado & Ramírez, 1999 by having the embolus basally inserted on the bulb and the embolic base projected ( Figs 1D–F View FIGURE 1 , 3C–E View FIGURE 3 ; Cala-Riquelme et al. 2018, figs 31–33; Platnick et al.1999, figs 22–24), but can be distinguished from the previously mentioned species by the subdistal ledge on the embolus, which is apically bifid ( Figs1D–F View FIGURE 1 , 3C–E View FIGURE 3 ).

Description. Male (Holotype, IAvH-I-3752). Coloration ( Fig. 1A–C View FIGURE 1 ): carapace dark reddish. Chelicerae, labium, sternum dark reddish. Endites and legs reddish. Abdomen with dark red scutum and yellowish the rest of its extension. Spinnerets yellowish. Measurements: total length 2.51, carapace length 1.23, width 1.02, height 0.75. Carapace elevated and with granulated cuticle. Posterior median eyes separated by approximately 3.3x their own diameter ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Sternum length 0.62, width 0.61. Legs: coxae and femur I granulated, I: 2.91; II: 2.23; III: 2.11; IV: 2.85. Abdomen length 1.18, scutum occupying 46% of the dorsum with soft cuticle. Palp: femur longer than tibia; patella shorter than 1/2 the tibia length and rounded; tibia globose; bulb relatively small but greatly extended into narrow neck forming a basally projected base when embolus is originated; embolus inserted on base and longer than cymbium, with wide base and with two filiform tips ( Figs 1D–F View FIGURE 1 , 3C–E View FIGURE 3 ).

Distribution. Only known from the type locality in Caquetá department ( Fig.4 View FIGURE 4 ).
