Host. Asteraceae: Nabalus albus(L.) Hook. Larval biology.Internal stem borer. Lower in the stem, where it is hollow, larvae feed as described above for Melanagromyza arnoglossi. Puparium.Straw-colored; formed within the larval feeding site. Phenology and voltinism.Pupae overwinter, with adults emerging in spring or perhaps summer.
Comments.This is the first record of any Melanagromyzafrom Nabalus(nor is any known from PrenanthesL., the European genus from which Nabaluswas recently separated).
