Distribution. USA(Florida, Texas), Gulf of Mexicoand Brazil(Ceará, Pernambuco, Sergipe, Bahia, São Paulo, Paraná) (Coelho et al.2007; Rosa & Almeida 2012; present study).
Remarks. The record of Axianassa australisin Ceará represents the northern-most point in the distribution range of the species in Brazil. The burrows of A. australismay occasionally harbour the “commensal” alpheid shrimp Leptalpheus axianassae(see above).
