The original description does not contain a typedesignation.   Remarks. This species was originally described by K. Viets (1935)as subspecies of  A. spatiosus. Later on Lundblad (1971)synonymized it with the stem species, but Pešić & Smit (2009)rejected this synonymization and raised  A. spatiosus cognatusto full species rank, a point of view confirmed by our re-examination of the typeseries of  A. spatiosusand  A. cognatus. The latter species can be distinguished from  A. spatiosusby the shorter S-1/2 interspace in both sexes and the slightly sclerotized excretory pore. Most character states of the Borneo specimens suggest attribution to  A. cognatusbut the diagnostic features of  A. spatiosusand  A. cognatusneed reconsideration based on material from a larger geographical area. Probably, the populations from Thailandand Malaysiaassigned by Pešić & Smit (2009)to  A. cognatusrepresent an undescribed species ( Pešić et al. 2012b).   Distribution. Indonesia(Sumatra, E Java - K.
