Synonymized by  Bergroth, 1922: 21.  Bothrophorella procurrens: Reuter, 1907(n. comb.).    Bothrophorella nigra:  Bergroth, 1922: 19(n. comb.);  Ferreira et al., 2006: 9(list, distr.).   Diagnosis.Overall coloration shiny black; head brownish orange, vertex and sometimes entire median line fuscous. Pronotum and scutellum distinctly punctate; hemelytra more finely punctate. Antenal segment I and apex of segment II black; legs pale or whitish, tibiae often with a basal or subbasal fuscous band. Length 3.20–4.20 mm.  Host.Unknown.   Distribution. Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama(Carvalho, 1957), and Suriname( Carvalho and Rosas, 1965). Ferreira et al.(2006)gave the first report of this species in Minas Gerais.   Minas Gerais specimens examined.1 ɗ, 2 Ψ, Viçosa, Jan. 1946, Schlottfeldt ( UFVB); 1 Ψ, Viçosa, 18 Dec. 1978, Ferreira and Rossi ( UFVB).
