Typelocality: USA, Texas. Additional distribution: USA, Arizona, New Mexico. Host plant: Pithecellobiumsp., and possibly Acacia greggii. Remarks: Hodkinson (1991a)identified a number of specimens previously placed under A. acaciaeCrawford ( Hodkinson 1988)and A. spiniferaCrawfordunder this species; A. pithecolobiais therefore now considered to be a widespread species in California.
